Welcome to University Gathering United Methodist Church. We are a Christian community called together in the University District to seek and worship God, to act with compassion, and to work for justice with our neighbors.

We Practice Inclusive Hospitality

Inspired by Jesus’ boundary-breaking ways, we are committed to being an inclusive church. There is no room for hatred and discrimination here. As a Reconciling Congregation, we proudly and fully include LGBTQI+ folks into all aspects of the life of the church. We work with and learn from marginalized people in the neighborhood, trying to bridge the divisions of class and circumstance.

Our Way of Life

At University Gathering, following Jesus is a way of life, not just a set of beliefs. God is a real presence in our everyday lives, wherever our path leads us. God Is not a distant subject, but one who is intimate in our lives. As progressive Christians, we relish tough questions, diversity, and open dialog while respecting other faith traditions.

We Seek Justice and Peace

As followers of Jesus, we actively engage with the problems of our time. We are called to stand up to the powers that create injustice and division, linking hands with other advocates. At the same time, we seek to be representatives of God’s love, accompanying those who are suffering.

Fun and Fellowship

While we take our faith seriously, we have fun along the way. Fort Casey retreats, family camp, coffee and goodies after worship, potlucks, and children’s activities provide opportunities to enjoy companionship and to support each other.
