Children’s Ministry Assistant

About the Role 

The Children’s Ministry Assistant supports the Family & Community Engagement Minister in creating a welcoming, safe, and engaging Sunday School experience for children. This part‑time role at $30/hour (approximately $60/week) involves onsite support each Sunday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, helping ensure our children’s program runs smoothly and joyfully.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Assist with Sunday School setup, classroom preparation, and materials organization 
  • Help lead activities, crafts, and lessons for children ages preschool through elementary 
  • Welcome families and support a warm, inclusive environment 
  • Provide logistical support for children’s programming, including transitions, and cleanup 
  • Collaborate with the Family & Community Engagement Minister on weekly needs and special events 
  • Lead children’s programming when the Family & Community Engagement Minister is off 
  • Follow all Safe Sanctuaries policies of the United Methodist Church to ensure the safety and protection of children and youth 

Requirements 

  • Completion of a background check 
  • Commitment to adhering to Safe Sanctuaries guidelines and best practices
